Price is based on per pound carcass weight. The final meat price will typically be less than what our customers would pay for the same quality, amount and cuts of beef at the grocery store or retail meat market. Our beef will grade prime or choice. That’s great beef at a great price! There are three types of charges: (1) meat price (price per pound of carcass weight) – paid to Rock Cattle Company; (2) delivery charges (a nominal delivery charge to deliver the steer or heifer to the locker and a meat home-delivery charge (optional)) – paid to Rock Cattle Company; and (3) locker processing charges – paid directly to the locker. A side (one-half) of beef typically yields 220-260 pounds of retail cuts (steaks, roasts, ground beef, etc.) and a quarter of beef yields 110-130 pounds of retail cuts. To give you an idea of needed freezer space, a quarter of packaged beef can typically fit in 2 ½ to 3 large coolers. Please note that the weight of the take-home retail cuts is approximately 60-65% of the carcass weight.
Our customers are welcome to pickup their meat from the locker. For most of our customers, the locker will be less than 100 miles from their home.
Optional delivery to your home is available. Home delivery prices vary by location.
1. Please fill out the Order Inquiry Form or e-mail us at rock@rockcattle.com.
2. After we receive your inquiry, we will contact you by e-mail or telephone to confirm your order.
3. After the steer or heifer has been delivered to the locker and the carcass weight is known, we will send a final invoice with the balance due for the meat and applicable delivery charges. The final invoice must be paid at or prior to meat delivery or pickup.
4. At approximately the same time we will connect you with the locker to customize your order. The locker will work with you to get your packaging preferences, steak thickness, roast sizes, and optional extras (such as jerky, ground beef patties, and tenderizing; extras are provided at an additional charge beyond the locker’s standard processing charges).
5. The beef will be dry-aged for approximately 14 days to enhance the exceptional flavor and tenderness.
6. When your meat is ready, the locker will contact you to pick up or, if optional home delivery is chosen, Rock Cattle Company will contact you with your delivery date and time frame. The customer will need to pay the locker processing charges to the locker before the meat is picked up.
